Our organization recognizes the injustice of our nation’s current sentencing policies. We have set goals and developed strategies & tactics to address some of the complex problems of the current sentencing policies affecting our prisoners. Our county is an especially conservative county in a state that is becoming a leader in recognizing the need for change in many social issues. We believe that by providing education and forums for discussion and developing alliances in our rural community, we can help to effect change in our state and in our nation. We hope to provide successful strategies for rural communities that we can share with neighboring rural communities and take our goals to larger cities (El Paso Texas, and Las Cruces and Albuquerque, New Mexico).
