We Trust Women Council of Elders

Peace and Justice of La Luz

A group of elder women, we share a vision of a world where abortion is a rare event, because women feel empowered having adequate comprehensive reproductive & healthy sexuality education and access to affordable birth control. We see a world in which unintended pregnancies are few because of these rights.

We want to share our stories with young women who are dealing with difficult decisions around reproductive health.

We celebrate women, women’s sexuality, and the freedom that Roe v Wade provided for women to access safe abortions in regulated clinics.

Some of us have had abortions and do not feel shame nor bear guilt about our decision.  We did not make our decision lightly or easily.  Many of us talked with parents, friends, spiritual leaders, and prayed before we came to the conclusion that abortion was the right choice for our bodies, our families and our spirits at that time in our life.

Some of us have stories of sisters, daughters, mothers, or friends who had abortions and are grateful for abortions being legal today.

 We consider ourselves

  • pro-faith
  • pro-family
  • pro-women
  • pro-choice
  • pro-life

We grieve for and remember the women who died during illegal abortions.

We wish to be an additional resource for providing our community with Planned Parenthood and NARAL information.
